"LOG OFF, LOG OFF, EVERYONE LOG THE F--- OFF NOW" - Suas, GoonSwarm Fleet Commander Sunday January 27, 2008 during a fleet fight with BoB in system QY8, approximately 21:55 EVT
Nice sig and stuff, but the QY8 system doesn't exist.
Thanks! Fixed. When it was sent to me it was "QY8" and I imagine from where all the fuss has been (and our killboard indicates), its the RKK system.

First of all, love your plays!
Second, naw. I'm more a process kinda guy than an outcome kinda guy. I like playing the game regardless of the outcome.
Besides, it's hard to get worked up. All that territory you guys took came after the Revelations POS and Supercap changes. That space wouldn't have become ours without the ability to spam POSes or do things with Titans like remote DDD then run out without tackles.
Goons whined hard, said they changes would never get made because the devs were all in BoB and the devs love BoB. They changed. And, oh, what's that? Turns out that more devs were in Goon than any other alliance at the time. It's funny how the logic worked there. Wouldn't get changed because it was believed BoB filled with Devs, but nobody's run around saying, "see, things only get changed if you have Devs in your alliance!!11!!!" Another source of bemusement.
POS mechanic changes made it harder for Alliances with a particular timezone imbalance to hold space. Titans (and not to minimize awesome uber-fighter wielding Moms) were not just a physical threat to fleets but were a morale weapon.
The average BoB member (and some of the leaders) didn't understand this dynamic and confused their own skill for game mechanics. The vast, vast majority of the playerbase is currently attributing the situation to their own mistaken superiority. So, you can't fault the members of a particular alliance for their hubris when everyone seems to do the same thing.
If the game mechanics were to change back to allowing POS spamming and to unnerf the supercaps, the map would reverse itself by July 2008.
So, yeah, its hard to get worked up. Changes to game mechanics create different conditions that benefit certain organizational and institutional arrangements over others. BoB's kinda the last of an old school-type of Alliance. Well, to be more specific, BoB represent the transition point between Alliance paradigm types.
Besides, it's kinda cool to know that it takes this many people and alliances working together to kill what you and your broheems have built up. Nobody in Eve is safe. Nobody. It's what makes the game so awesome. Part of the propaganda war is to make people feel embarrassed or ashamed to be associated with a particular group. It's not so much targeted at the membership of that group, but at limiting potential future members from joining a group that's fallen out of fashion.
So, in sum, I thought Goons were wimps for whining about game mechanics when they did it. I'm sure as not going to run around and do the same thing. BoB's situation before was the consequence of a set of game mechanics, and it is again. Nothing to sweat about. I'm having fun with the game either way. I pulled in the billions so I could have fun playing teh PvP, and that's what I'm doing. It's a challenge and its fun. But its nothing to take so bloody seriously.
